Images of the Day: Capturing the scent and sound of an airport in Bengaluru

Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Duty Free Global from Ireland, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

INDIA. Today’s choices come in video form, courtesy of Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru operator Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL).

They capture the launch of Dancing Bamboo, an airport fragrance designed to create a multi-sensory passenger experience, and consumer reaction to the airport’s new sonic identity.

As revealed by BIAL Managing Director Hari Marar at the annual Pinnacle by BLR Awards in June, the fragrance is being deployed in various airport areas, including the arrivals hall, check-in zone and boarding gates.

“Beyond the sights and seamless service, we’ve added a new dimension to your journey: an enchanting aroma designed to soothe and elevate your experience,” BIAL said of the new fragrance. “There’s a new, subtle magic in the air at BLR Airport, our signature fragrance, Dancing Bamboo is specially curated to make you feel right at home.

“This isn’t just any scent; it’s carefully crafted to wrap you in a sense of calm the moment you step into our terminals. It’s all part of the ‘Feels Like BLR’ experience making your airport journey more memorable.”

The sonic identity, again revealed by Marar at the Pinnacle by BLR Awards, is based on BLR’s delightfully catchy ‘The World is Waiting For You’ (see YouTube film below), composed by Grammy-winning artist Ricky Kej and released last year.

Of the sonic identity, BIAL commented: “The anthem has now evolved into a signature tune and musical logo, crafted to stir myriad emotions and remind you of the magic and delight of BLR Airport.

“In today’s multi-sensory world, we believe music has the power to create deep emotional connections and instant recognition.”
