USA. Today’s selection is courtesy of Costa Coffee, which has introduced a limited test of its innovative autonomous coffee technology, Costa Coffee Creations at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Europe’s largest café chain has partnered with global hospitality and entertainment company Delaware North to launch this technology, set to arrive in August at Gates 11 and 16.

Dubbed “the pinnacle of coffee innovation”, the fully robotic system is designed to offer travellers barista-quality espresso drinks at any time of the day or night, eliminating the need for any human assistance for up to seven days.

The AI-powered machine-crafted coffee is designed to disrupt the traveller experience by offering customised coffee through seamless mobile ordering

This feature is enabled by the machine’s end-to-end touchless drink preparation in a controlled, self-cleaning environment.

Costa Coffee Creations can serve both hot and cold beverages using freshly ground beans, milk and alternative milk options, with various flavours available.

Delaware North, an early adopter of the limited test of Costa Coffee Creations, recognises the transformative potential of autonomous coffee solutions.

The latest Costa Coffee technology promises to provide travellers with barista-quality coffee made with signature beans from the café and milk of their choice, poured with precision

Costa’s current coffee robot at Austin Airport, a precursor to Costa Coffee Creations, has demonstrated remarkable success, the company noted.

Costa Coffee Senior Director Nick Rex said: “Amid persistent labour shortages and growing consumer demand for convenience and personalisation, Costa Coffee Creations emerges as the perfect solution.

“With the ability to concoct an infinite array of coffee options in minutes and facilitating seamless mobile ordering, all without the need for human intervention for up to seven days, the machine embodies a win-win scenario for both operators and guests alike.”

Delaware North Director of Operations for Travel Division Terry Mahlum added: “The tech-forward city of Austin is the perfect first location for Costa Coffee Creations. Our partnership with Costa emphasises our commitment to continuous innovation and delivering superior guest experiences.” ‍
