Images of the Day: How Plaza Premium Group elevated the consumer experience at Hong Kong Airport

Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Strange Nature gin from New Zealand celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

HONG KONG, CHINA. Is this the coolest setting for any cocktail bar in the airport world? Well, let’s just say that the subject of today’s photo selection will take some beating, writes Martin Moodie.

Welcome to Intervals, a brilliant, just-opened concept from Plaza Premium Group located on Hong Kong International Airport’s (HKIA) magnificent new Sky Bridge.

Plaza Premium Group has dubbed the venue “an unprecedented airport destination”, one that elevates the airport experience with an innovative food and drinks programme within a breathtaking setting.

It elevates the experience in a literal sense too, being sited 28m above the ground on the world’s longest airside bridge, while featuring splendid panoramic views of the airfield and Lantau island beyond.

Intervals was developed by Mei Mei Song (left), Director of Global Brands and Transformation and the next generation of the Plaza Premium Group, together with Creative Director Victoria Chow, founder of acclaimed Hong Kong bar The Woods

The space was curated specifically for the airport setting, from the menu design to a dedicated Intervals platform that provides knowledge about the drinks alongside beverage-focused travel inspirations.

Drinking cocktails on an airbridge, while watching the sun go down and the planes go up. Truly a case of raising the bar in airport food & beverage. ✈

Plaza Premium Group hits new heights at Hong Kong Airport

Intervals was inspired by the notion that the time of day becomes fluid while travelling, particularly through an airport. Key actions and decisions are measured in time intervals.

Think about it. They are, right? How long did it take you to clear check-in? Security? How long to your gate? Or before boarding?

How much time do you have to shop, to dine? Or in my case to write that last-minute Blog on ‘the website that never sleeps’?
