Images of the Day: Travel Retail Vilnius’ vibrant celebration of Lithuanian culture at Kaunas Airport

Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Duty Free Global from Ireland, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

LITHUANIA. Today’s selection of images come courtesy of Gebr. Heinemann subsidiary Travel Retail Vilnius, which has opened an eye-catching, much-enhanced walk-through store in the Schengen zone at Kaunas International Airport.

The 585sq m store unites all categories under one roof with Lithuanian sense of place to the fore. The Baltic state’s heritage and culture are celebrated not only in food and drink – with traditional Lithuanian cake Šakotis, local spirits and craft beers prominent – but also in fragrances by Lithuanian haute couture designer Juozas Statkevičius. Linen and amber crafts and merchandise from basketball team BC Žalgiris Kaunas also further local lustre.

The bright, vibrant walk-through also features an enlarged space for beauty, with fashion & accessories housing global brands alongside local designers, while an expansive technology offer includes leading names such as JBL, Marshall and Sony.

Gebr. Heinemann Director Sales Eastern Europe Central Asia Oleg Zhytomyrsky said: “For us it is a strategic commitment to future growth and a perfect alignment with Kaunas Airport’s dynamic development. The innovative retail experience puts us right in step with the exciting growth trajectory as the airport continues to welcome new routes and expand its connectivity.”

Travel Retail Vilnius CEO Orinta Amelija Ambrazeviciene added: “We are incredibly optimistic about the potential this new space unlocks. This transformation wouldn’t be possible without our exceptional team in Lithuania and the strong collaboration with our headquarters teams. Their speed, creativity and commitment to excellence have set a new industry standard.”

The latest opening will be followed by a remodelled 107sq m shop in the Non-Schengen departures zone before year-end. In 2026 Travel Retail Vilnius will open an upgraded 1,300sq m walk-through store at Vilnius International Airport.
