Kabuki Gate, Victoria’s Secret lead store openings at Tokyo Narita

JAPAN. A store showcasing traditional Japanese theatre, revamped Tiffany and duty free stores, and a first Victoria’s Secret store are refreshing Tokyo Narita Airport’s retail selection.

Narita International Airport Corporation (NAA) opened its Kabuki Gate store on 27 March, airside in the south wing of Terminal 1.

Designed to introduce the art of traditional Japanese theatre to departing customers, the 90sq m store features both exhibition and retail space.

Its interactive gallery showcases elaborate costumes and a Kabuki Face Photo Booth, while the adjacent shop area sells original goods associated with kabuki.

Tokyo-based Shochiku, a leading kabuki production house, supervised the store’s construction, and NAA Retailing is managing operations.

“The facility provides a space where even visitors from abroad experiencing kabuki for the first time will be able to appreciate its beauty,” an NAA spokesperson said.

Refreshing T2
Narita’s Terminal 2 main building airside saw a refurbished Tiffany & Co jewellery outlet open on 23 March, and yesterday welcomed an expanded and refurbished Fa-So-La Tax Free Akihabara souvenir and gift store.

In line with a reinforced emphasis on Made in Japan goods, Fa-So-La Tax Free Akihabara now has a permanent space for saké and shochu tasting, promoting the government-backed Take a Sip of Japan! Kampai to the World campaign.

Tomorrow NAA will reinvigorate airside retailing in the T2 satellite building, with three stores set to debut: the airport’s first Victoria’s Secret store (featuring lingerie, fragrances, body care and handbags), and two revamped general duty free stores, Japan Duty Free (JATCo) and JAL Duty Free (JAL-DFS).

On 2 April NAA will add a fitfit pop-up store airside on the 4th floor of T2. The fitfit store, which specialises in orthopaedic footwear for women, will operate until 10 May.

NAA promises more openings in the near future.
