Lagardère Travel Retail makes Swiss F&B debut at Geneva Cornavin Station

The Bloody Bar was inspired by the history and culture of Geneva

SWITZERLAND. Lagardère Travel Retail Switzerland has opened its first food & beverage outlet in the Swiss market. The restaurant’s design reflects the vibrant culture of Geneva and features the work of acclaimed street artist Anaïs Coulon. It is located opposite the gateway to the Swiss/French TGV railway platforms.

It was opened in partnership with Swiss rail company SBB CFF FFS (Schweizerischen Bundesbahnen, Chemins de Fer Fédéraux Suisses, Ferrovie Federali Svizzere).

Geneva Cornavin station is the third busiest Swiss station in terms of users, with a total of 171,000 daily passengers.

The restaurant marks Lagardère Travel Retail Switzerland’s first foray into food & beverage

Lagardère Travel Retail Switzerland CEO Pascal Le Droff said: “These new food & beverage operations are a natural addition to our retail luxury activity (duty free, fashion, duty free for diplomats). Lagardère Travel Retail’s agile Swiss team strives to come up with new solutions to meet the expectations of landlords. For Geneva Cornavin station, the team has worked on a bespoke concept. The Bloody Bar is proudly representing its canton, its city and its history.

“The design and architecture are inspired by the culture of Geneva, and in particular by the Grottes district and Geneva-based street artist Anaïs Coulon. The Bloody Bar is part of Geneva’s DNA. This hybrid, trendy concept can be adapted to the specificities of each station and each canton, while remaining true to its core designs elements: the culture and history of its city.”

The company said it aims to further develop the F&B business at train stations and airports in the country.
