Lancôme plumps up make-up portfolio with Miracle Cushion

Lancôme has extended its foundation portfolio with the new Miracle Cushion. It is being launched into travel retail this month.

The hybrid product – which originated in Asia – is said to combine the freshness and lightness of a fluid with the unifying blur effect of a BB cream, within the portable practicality of a compact. It freshens, evens and protects the complexion from UVA and UVB light, while delivering sheer, natural, buildable coverage, according to the brand.

The make-up itself takes the form of an innovative, sponge-like, bouncy cushion. When pressed, this yields a tiny dose of tinted fluid. The sponge cushion is oxygenated by thousands of little air holes which optimise the formula’s absorption into the sponge.

The sponge chambers are designed to contain a significant amount of fluid, releasing just the right dose for each application, Lancôme maintains. The cushion’s air content means that the formula always comes out even, liquid and light every time the polyurethane applicator (included in the compact) is pressed down on it.

The formula includes an SPF23/PA++, plus pine needle extract, known for its depigmenting properties. Other key ingredients include ester oil and glycerine for hydration and adenosine for its anti-wrinkle effect.

Miracle Cushion is refillable, thereby allowing re-use and also an easy switch between shades as the seasons change. It is available in six different colours. The face of the foundation is Penélope Cruz. The ad campaign was shot by Mert & Marcus.
