UK. Manchester Airport has unveiled its new Assistance Lounge in Terminal 2 Departures East.
The lounge forms a key part of the travel hub’s £1.3 billion (US$1.73 billion) T2 redevelopment programme.
The 190sq m facility – now centrally located close to the main retail and food & beverage zone – replaces the previous temporary 70sq m assistance lounge area, which was situated en route to the airline gates.

The fully staffed lounge has a choice of seating types for a capacity exceeding 100 people, a quieter semi-partitioned area, airfield views, natural light, large low-level flight information displays, charging points and a hearing loop array system.
A free food delivery service is available to this area from select Manchester Airport business partners.

Manchester Airport Accessibility Manager Ed Kibblewhite told The Moodie Davitt Report: “Here at Manchester Airport we are proud to connect the people of the North to the world – and a key part of that is making sure that we serve all our passengers, regardless of their needs.
“The new assistance lounge sits right in the heart of Terminal 2 close to all the shops, restaurants and other facilities. It is a fantastic facility for the passengers that will use it and has been designed in collaboration with our Accessibility Forum.
“Passengers who require assistance can either be taken directly to the lounge or directed to it and although we always encourage passengers to book assistance through their airlines, it will still be available to passengers who need it but have not booked.” ✈
