INDIA. Premium Japanese whisky brand Misaka has been honoured with the Grand Gold award in the category above INR10,000 (US$120) for its Sherry PX Cask 12 Year Old at the Spiritz Conclave and Achievers Awards 2024.
This accolade was shared with The House of Suntory’s Hibiki Harmony.
Hosted by India’s leading liquor magazine Spiritz, the prestigious event was live-streamed from Le Méridien Gurugram in Delhi last week (18 October).
The award was accepted by much-respected travel retail and drinks industry veteran and Platinum Liquids Founder and CEO Gaurav Joshi.
Misaka lauded Joshi for elevating the spirit brand’s presence in India’s travel retail market.
Misaka said: “Watching and hearing our Misaka name called live on YouTube by Spiritz, India’s leading Alcobev and hospitality magazine, is truly humbling. This award is very special.”
As reported, Misaka was launched earlier this year by Hong Kong entrepreneur Harry Kartasis, Founder of brand agency and supply chain provider Global Drinks Limited (GDL).
In July, Delhi-based Platinum Liquids and Hong Kong-based GDL entered into a distribution partnership to develop the premium whisky brand within India and the Middle East region.
The Misaka collection comprises seven “exceptional” whiskies that combine fine natural ingredients and time-honoured distillation techniques from Scotland and Japan.
In this Moodie Davitt STUDIO video interview (available in short and long form), Kartasis talks to The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie about his long-term desire to own his own brand, his love for Japanese whisky and how a single SKU became a multiple age-statement assortment.
As reported, the premium Japanese whisky range won two Gold Medals and one Silver Medal at the prestigious World Whisky Masters 2024, organised by The Spirits Business. ✈
