Nuance Group to roll out new concepts – 22/09/04

SWITZERLAND. The Nuance Group plans to roll out to other airports the consumer interactive concepts it has pioneered at the new Zürich Airport Airside Centre.

Nuance’s home airport features some of the retailer’s most impressive innovations to date.

In the confectionary shop at Zürich, for example, the concessionaire has teamed up with premium Swiss chocolate house Lindt to have a chocolatier demonstrate how chocolates are made.

Nuance Group CEO Region Europe Carlo Bernasconi told The Moodie Report: “We wanted not only to push the category but also to create an environment in which the customer has a large selection of chocolates and can also learn about them.

“This is a concept we will definitely try to roll out, not just in Switzerland. You may have a different taste in Holland, for example.”

Nuance has also teamed up with Swiss skincare brand La Prairie to offer facial treatments at a separate counter instead of just selling its products in a generic cosmetics and perfume store.

Bernasconi said: “It may not be a big cash cow. But it’s about indulgence and feeing nice, feeling good, treating your customer in the right way. I think that’s what it’s all about. I believe in the overall concept of “˜self-indulgence’, of being nice to your customers, is definitely a concept which is worth rolling out or looking into for other airports. Because the needs of a customer in an airport are all the same.”
