ICELAND. Digital marketplace solutions provider Omnevo has partnered with Icelandair to deploy a new electronic point of sale (ePOS) system for inflight sales.
The partnership aims to revolutionise inflight service onboard, said the partners. It will showcase Omnevo’s commitment to advancing digitalisation in airline operations and enhancing the passenger experience.

The system features key integration points that aim to improve the inflight experience for passengers and streamline operations for crew members.

The ePOS devices communicate via wifi rather than Bluetooth, ensuring a more stable and efficient connection. Additionally, the crew benefits from live information of inventory levels onboard, providing real-time updates for enhanced management and decision-making.
Improved customer service is achieved through the introduction of combo options, loyalty payments, preordered meal seat-maps and an allergen filter, empowering crew members to better assist customers.
Passengers also benefit from the option to pay on-board with Saga club loyalty points, further incentivising frequent flyers. Additionally, the ePOS device functions as an all-in-one solution with a built-in printer for inventory management, which simplifies crew operations.
Back-end operational efficiency is enhanced as manual back-office operations are replaced by digital tablets. This allows catering staff to make loading changes up to three hours before departure, thereby promoting flexibility and efficiency throughout the process.
