US/INTERNATIONAL. The Patrón Spirits Company recently hosted the First Annual Charity Invitational Golf Tournament in Coral Springs, Florida, during which US$50,000 was raised to benefit The Smile Train** (www.smiletrain.org), an international organization dedicated to helping millions of children around the world who suffer from cleft lip and palate by providing free surgery, free training for doctors and research to find a cure.
Despite some rain and overcast skies, golfers from throughout South Florida convened on The Country Club of Coral Springs on 1 June to play in the tournament and help raise money for this important cause.
“In just our first year of hosting this tournament, we’re proud to have raised US$50,000 for The Smile Train, funds that will help children across the globe live better lives,” said South Florida resident John McDonnell, Chief Operating Officer of The Patrón Spirits Company.
It costs just US$250 for the simple 45-minute cleft surgery that will change a child’s life forever. The efforts of Patrón and its supporters will ensure 200 children receive treatment,
The afternoon tournament was followed by a cocktail reception and a silent auction that evening. Winners were then recognized at an awards buffet dinner, and throughout the day participants won various prizes including a new BMW, courtesy of Vista BMW of Coral Springs.
“We’re thrilled to have been the title sponsor of this memorable event, and we appreciate everyone who came out to support The Smile Train, a phenomenal organization dedicated to improving so many lives,” said Laura Becraft, Patrón Tequila’s state manager for Florida and Georgia. “We’re looking forward to making this tournament an annual event.”
The Patrón Spirits Company is also proving a generous supporter of the big travel retail industry charity dinner* ‘Turning Tears into Smiles’ to be held in Hong Kong on 5 October to raise funds for The Smile Train, being co-organised by The Moodie Report and Hugo Boss.
Besides taking a table and offering a free bar, the company has donated the services of its superb local Public Relations company, Maya Consultants, run by Mireya Garcia (www.mayahk.com ) to help source a venue and plan the dinner.
