UKRAINE. Consumer electronics specialist Capi Global has opened a 45sq m outlet under franchise at Zhuliany Airport in Kiev, Ukraine, operated by Pavo Duty Free.
Capi recently developed a franchise formula derived from its successful retail concept, making its business model – based on a focused assortment of hardware and accessories – available to other retailers as a franchise. The agreement with Pavo Duty Free is the first of the franchises that Capi aims to establish at other airports.
Royal Capi-Lux Managing Director Peter Wiggers said: “This franchise agreement with Pavo is an important step for us. We believe that electronics contribute to a more inspiring and complete retail offer. Our franchise formula is designed to make electronics retailing a carefree experience in order to ensure duty free retailers can focus on the traditional categories.
“We are very pleased to be able to bring our innovative and proven retail concept to a wider public, adding to the Ukrainian airport retail portfolio. Pavo are experienced retailers themselves, therefore it makes perfect sense to enter into a franchise partnership with them.”
Capi Global said the Kiev Zhuliany Airport store has been carefully selected in collaboration with Pavo and is specifically tailored to the buying behaviour of travellers through Kiev. Products include Capi’s MiTone, as well as niche and leading A-brands.
“The Capi Global electronics assortment will be closely monitored by Capi and further complemented by a Visual Merchandising Policy, which is unique to airport retailing,” the company stated.
“As an international airport retailer, Capi provides the ideal platform for leading electronics brands to introduce their latest products: Capi is often chosen by manufacturers to introduce their innovations for the first time. The Ukrainian airport will now also benefit from the product innovations that Capi is able to provide,” Capi Global added.
Pavo Duty Free is the largest duty free operator in Ukraine, servicing five international airports. Zhuliany Airport handles nearly two million passengers a year and offers a broad range of products in duty free.
Pavo Duty Free President Igor Kunyansky commented: “Pavo has the biggest network of duty free shops in Ukraine. Our current offering consists of high-quality European brands and global trademarks. We are constantly looking to enrich our offering with quality products that provide added value to airport and passenger alike. The Capi franchise will enable us to complete our exclusive retail offering at Zhuliany Airport, and we are looking forward to a profitable cooperation with Capi.”
