Pernod Ricard showcases key brands at Viking Line Whisky Fair

Pernod Ricard Travel Retail’s stand at the Viking Line Whisky Fair 2011 spanned an expansive nine metres


UK. Pernod Ricard Travel Retail presented consumers with a selection from its portfolio of malts and blended whiskies, including Jameson, Chivas Regal, Ballantine’s, The Glenlivet and Aberlour, at the Viking Line Whisky Fair 2011.

This annual fair took place in January on Viking Line Cinderella, giving passengers the chance to experience Pernod Ricard’s whisky offering while sailing the scenic Stockholm to Ã…land Island route.

Pernod Ricard Travel Retail’s prominent exhibition stand, at nine metres long, presented a wide range of whiskies including rare and special varieties, all available to sample and purchase.

Pernod Ricard Travel Retail Europe Area Marketing Manager Christian Løn commented: “Once again consumers showed huge interest for all our whiskies at this annual event. The majority of consumers had come to taste and buy Scotch whisky, but it was very encouraging to experience the high interest shown in Jameson Irish whiskies as well.”

In addition to the sampling and buying opportunities, Pernod Ricard Travel Retail hosted whisky master classes, offering extra insight into the world of whisky to the 3,000 consumers who attended.

The first was the “˜The Glenlivet’ flavour experience, held by whisky brand ambassador Peter Kjær, and the second, the “˜Chivas Regal Luxury of Time’, in which Chivas Brothers brand ambassador Alex Robertson took consumers on a journey into the brand’s luxury universe. The latter class highlighted the skills of the master blender and the maturation expertise needed to create the whiskies of Chivas Regal.

Robertson said: “The audience was knowledgeable and passionate, keen to embrace favourites such as Aberlour A’Bunadh and learn more about others, such as Ballantine’s 17yo, Jim Murray’s World Whisky of the Year 2011.”

During the fair consumers were also encouraged to join The Glenlivet Guardians, an online club where members receive advance news about product offers and all new bottlings, as well as activities such as online tastings and other exclusive events.
