MACAU, CHINA. Leading global airport hospitality services provider Plaza Premium Group (PPG) has unveiled the First lounge concept at Macau International Airport (MIA).

The opening further extends PPG’s global footprint to over 75 international airports in 30 countries and regions and marks the fourth addition to this exclusive collection of luxury lounges.

The company is also marking a decade since the launch of Plaza Premium Lounge at Macau International Airport in 2014.

Located near Departure Gate 10/10A, the 465sq m space offers all-inclusive bespoke hospitality services, elevating the lounge concept to provide passengers with an enhanced travel experience.

The lounge is equipped with a variety of seating options – from relaxation lounge chairs to working spaces

The launch also builds on the success of previous openings at key locations, including Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta.

PPG Founder and CEO Song Hoi-See said: “Ten years ago, we opened our first lounge at Macau International Airport. Over the past decade, we have witnessed the growth and evolution of the tourism industry in the city.

The luxurious lounge provides a quiet and cosy space for guests to enjoy a meal and unwind as they await their flights

“Today, we are excited to expand in Macau with our new Plaza Premium First. Through the new lounge, we aim to enhance the journeys for travellers who value curated experiences. With the airport expansion plan and the opportunities presented by the Greater Bay Area and China, we believe this is a favourable time for PPG to expand in Macau.”

The Plaza Premium First lounge concept features made-to-order signature dishes and a cross-brand journey for elite travellers.

Sense of place: The lounge pays tribute to the region’s culinary scene, offering authentic Macanese fare

Evoking a distinctive sense of place, the Macau First lounge serves Macanese delicacies such as the Macanese-style Portuguese chicken, Portuguese egg tart and the classic pork chop bun. The theme builds on the Proudly Local programme PPG has introduced at selected global lounges to showcase diverse cultures through art, food and local traditions.

Macau International Airport Company Chairman of the Executive Committee Chan Weng Hong said: “As of August 2024, Macau International Airport has welcomed 5.2 million passengers, steadily recovering to 80% of its 2019 levels. Renowned for exemplary customer service, MIA provides 24/7 specialised staff and efficient check-in processes.
