The Porsche Design special case that comes with the Cayman S model |
GERMANY. Porsche Design will present its first mobile phone and the black-coloured Edition 1 at the TFWA World Exhibition next month (Stand number: Riviera Village RE17).
The first Porsche Design Mobile Phone was developed in co-operation with the French-based Sagem Communication (Safran Group).
The casing is milled out of a solid aluminum block and the typography, styling and colors of the menu were designed to emphasise the mobile phone’s functional character. A double hinge made from aluminum enables the screen to be rotated through 180° so that the phone can be used as a digital camera.

The mobile phone features a fingerprint reader which identifies the user and ensures secure access to personal data. Individual fingerprints can also be assigned to particular numbers or phone functions. The standard PIN code can also be replaced by a fingerprint.
The Porsche Design Edition 1 comes in a limited 777 cars, and is a homage to the ‘Chronograph 1’ designed by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche 35 years ago. It features a special-design Porsche Cayman S model and a special case containing a selection of Porsche Design products.
The special-design Cayman S Porsche Design Edition 1 is based on the 3.4-litre six-cylinder flat engine Cayman S with an output of 295 bhp (217 kW) at 6,250 revolutions per minute.
The exterior of the special-design edition features a combination of glossy and matte surfaces while the interior features a black leather/Alcantara combination.
A badge on the glove compartment cover certifies that the vehicle belongs to a limited edition of 777 cars.
The special case that comes with the special-design Cayman S contains a quartz chronograph, a pocket knife, a ballpoint pen, sunglasses and a key ring.
The laptop case is made of Italian calfskin and nylon laptop. It includes one main compartment with securing straps and protective padding on the sides, one organiser, and a separate zipper compartment. It weighs 2,800g and has dimensions of 46cm x 32cm x 13.5cm.
Other Edition 1 products can also be purchased on their own from Porsche Design Stores, speciality dealers and select Porsche Centres. These include a jacket and belt as well as leather accessories such as a briefcase, a wallet and credit-card holder, and a lighter. Porsche Design automatic chronographs and cufflinks will also be available at specialty stores.
The special edition comprises 14 products altogether.
