SAUDI ARABIA/UK. Riyadh Air has announced the launch of its first destination for international flights. The Saudi Arabian carrier will fly to London Heathrow starting 26 October, marking a key milestone in its phased operational roll-out ahead of full service later this year.
The airline will operate the route using its Boeing 787-9 technical spare aircraft, Jamila, with flights initially available to select groups and Riyadh Air employees.
Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas said: “This isn’t just a launch; it’s a tangible realisation of a vision to connect Saudi Arabia to the world, a core pillar of Saudi Vision 2030. This rigorous flight programme on Jamila allows us to fine-tune every detail, ensuring a seamless, reliable and world-class experience.”

Dubai will be the next destination added, the airline noted, with additional routes expected to be announced for winter 2025 and summer 2026 soon.
The airline recently secured slots at London Heathrow, reflecting its strategic intent to become a global aviation player.
Loyalty programme launch
Alongside its operational debut, Riyadh Air has unveiled ‘Sfeer’, its loyalty programme aimed at “redefining how travellers engage with airlines”.
The carrier noted the platform enables members to share Level Points and benefits with friends and family – a first for the industry.
“With Sfeer, we’re creating much more than just a loyalty programme; we’re building a dynamic, digitally immersive lifestyle ecosystem,” commented Douglas.
Early members, branded ‘The Founders’, will receive priority booking access, invitations to exclusive events, complimentary onboard wifi and benefits from global partners.
Sfeer points will never expire, Riyadh Air pointed out, and future features will include gamified experiences and leaderboards. ✈
