GUATEMALA. Major rum producer Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala, better known as Rones de Guatemala, has teamed up with leading Bohemian glass manufacturer Riedel to create the Ron Zacapa Centenario glass, designed specially for appreciating the premium rum.
Riedel, which is renowned for creating a wide range of crystal glasses for different styles of wine, has extended its expertise to tequila, Cognac, pisco and now rum.
Ron Zacapa Centenario is a premium, limited-edition rum created from virgin honey and aged for 23 years in white oak barrels.
The Rum Zacapa Centenario family includes a limited-production 15yo, 23yo and XO 25yo rum. According to the producer, the rum has been named the ‘Best Rum in the World’ and is considered the ‘Cognac of Rums’ for its ageing process and fine bouquet.
To create the Ron Zacapa Centenario glass, a workshop was held in Austria in early April involving an international group of 12 to 14 people. Experts in rum, opinion leaders, directors of industrias Licoreras de Guatemala and master blenders worked together under the guidance of Mr Riedel, who is the 10th generation of distinguished hand-blown glass artisans dating back to the 18th century.
