Cognac Croizet aims to expand its business in Russia, Europe, America and Asia with the help of new owners Russian Wine Trust

FRANCE. Cognac Croizet has been acquired by the Russian Wine Trust, the Muscovite producer, importer and distributor of wines and spirits, in what is described as the first significant acquisition of a Cognac house by a Russian investor.

“We are delighted to announce that Cognac Croizet has become an important part of our fast-growing portfolio of wines and spirits brands,” commented Russian Wine Trust Chairman of the Board Marina Selivanova.

“The acquisition by Russian Wine Trust will enable Cognac Croizet to expand its business in Russia, Europe, America and Asia where we have other commercial ventures. We have very ambitious goals for Cognac Croizet and the means with which to turn our dreams into reality. It is a new beginning,” she said.

Included in the acquisition are: 58 hectares of Grande Champagne vineyards, the historical offices of Léon Croizet in St Même-les-Carrières, four traditional alembic pot stills, two bottling lines and a “considerable” stock of eaux-de-vie, including a significant amount of vintage Cognacs.

Cognac Croizet will maintain complete control over its production process, and will continue to distil its wines in the traditional manner to ensure the Cognac’s classic style and texture, the company said.

The Russian Wine Trust will ensure that Cognac Croizet and those who enjoy its unique style around the world will continue to live the dream.

“The company’s wealth of knowledge, production facilities, experience and dedicated staff also enables it to produce a complete range of spirits and liqueurs. We will be looking to expand our business with existing clients and will appoint distributors in key markets outside Russia where appropriate,” added Banks.
