SAUDI ARABIA. The Saudi Tourism Authority has announced the achievement of more than 100 million tourist visitors to the Kingdom in 2023, +56% growth compared to 2019.
The target has been reached seven years ahead of the original schedule set by the country’s ambitious Vision 2030. It underscores Saudi Arabia’s emergence as a global tourism powerhouse.
The visitors – of which about 77 million were domestic and 27 million international – have injected spend of over US$67 billion into the Saudi economy, according to figures from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
The Saudi Tourism Authority commented: “This remarkable accomplishment reflects our nation’s rapid growth as the world’s fastest-growing tourism destination and the immense potential Saudi offers to the travel trade industry.
“Our focus on improving connectivity and infrastructure is designed to make Saudi more accessible to international visitors, opening up new routes and markets for the travel trade industry to explore and benefit from.”
UNWTO said: “We commend the leadership, the Ministry of Tourism, and all partners for their unwavering support and dedication.
