Sim Local unveils new design for stores at Heathrow Airport

UK. Sim Local, the largest seller of SIM cards in the UK travel market, has today a revealed a new look for its stores and point of sale materials at London Heathrow Airport. The retailer has also opened a new outlet in the baggage hall in Terminal 3.

The company said the new design will be rolled out across its entire airport retail estate, which also includes locations at several other UK airports and Brussels and Copenhagen airports.

The new look for Sim Local can now be seen across five locations at Heathrow Airport, where it has its strongest retail presence

The new store design has already been implemented across all of Sim Local’s locations at Heathrow. These include outlets in T5 arrivals, T2 arrivals, T3 arrivals, the new T3 baggage hall location and its store on the approach to the Heathrow Underground station.

Sim Local – which also sells phones and accessories in its stores – said the design has been engineered to ensure that customers are easily able to identify and select the best value local SIM plan for their individual needs.

Sim Local’s new outlet in the T3 baggage hall has taken over an empty unit which had previously been occupied by a foreign exchange bureau

The SIMs available are a curated selection from leading mobile operators including Three, EE and Lycamobile.

Sim Local noted that its new store in the T3 baggage hall gives inbound intercontinental travellers a convenient opportunity to purchase local SIMs and get connected quickly and easily on arrival in London.

It added that it sees baggage halls as ideal locations for selling SIMs, as passengers have lengthy dwell times while waiting for their luggage to arrive.

Sim Local Chief Trading Officer Ian Rankin said: “We are excited to roll out our new store design as well as open our new store. Introducing this new small store format in the baggage hall to our estate will play a key role in our continued international expansion.”

He added: “Despite the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been investing in our stores and expanding our reach consistently, and as travel continues to rebound are in a strong position to continue to grow our business. We look forward to welcoming customers to our stores in 2022.”

In addition to its standalone retail outlets, Sim Local works with affiliate partners such as WHSmith and its electronics store brand InMotion in airports globally.
