SosTravel and Health Point Plus to create digital ‘telehealth’ product

ITALY/USA. SosTravel is partnering with US telehealth provider Health Point Plus to create a new digital health service for travellers.

The two companies have committed to signing a two-year trade agreement by the end of this month. They aim to build on Health Point Plus’ existing service and network of doctors to create what they describe as a first aid medical tele-assistance product dedicated to travellers.

SosTravel will deploy its established digital capabilities to the new traveller-dedicated medical tele-assistance product in partnership with Health Point Plus

SosTravel also stated its intention acquire a minority interest in Health Point Plus by subscribing to US$100,000 of the capital increase in its forthcoming IPO.

Founded in 2017 by Chairman and CEO Rudolph Gentile, SosTravel provides information services for airport passengers and operates under the brand names SosTravel and Flio.

Massachusetts-based Health Point Plus, which plans to list on Nasdaq, operates in remote health care services with telecommunication tools and has developed a proprietary technology platform that connects more than 3,000 doctors with its users.

Gentile said: “We believe that the agreement with Health Point Plus will revolutionise the traveller’s experience in the unpleasant event of an illness or malaise abroad.

“All this through a simple contact on a smartphone with a doctor who can give an initial diagnosis and either suggest further analysis or indicate a treatment. This also applies, for example, to COVID-19 symptoms that can be easily misinterpreted as a mere flu.

“We are addressing a very broad audience of travellers who are looking for increasingly advanced and efficient services for problems that may arise along the way, and we are convinced that tele-medicine will significantly enhance SosTravel’s portfolio of services.”
