Spanish fashion brand Mango celebrates Barcelona Airport store

Mango’s 622sq m store located in the shopping area of Terminal 1 at Barcelona El Prat Airport

Spanish fashion chain Mango opened its first store at Barcelona El Prat Airport on Monday, 23 July 2012.

Located in the shopping area of Terminal 1, the store has a total surface area of 622sq m, of which 529sq m is dedicated to selling. The women’s collection covers 340.8sq m, while another section measuring 188.2sq m is dedicated to the H.E. by Mango menswear line.

When the company won the tender in April, Mango Managing Partner and Expansion Director Daniel López commented at the time: “We are delighted to have been awarded the tender because it is the city where Mango started, where our headquarters are located, because of the enormous potential of this airport and because of the international image it projects, which is true to the essence of Mango.”

Mango continues to expand and consolidate its position in the international travel retail market after opening stores in Dusseldorf, London, Madrid, New Delhi (two stores), Zurich, San Francisco (two stores), Beijing, Orlando and Nanchang.

With this new store in Barcelona, Mango has 12 stores at international airports with the highest levels of air traffic.

The brand, which has over 2,400 stores in 107 countries, closed the 2011 financial year with a turnover of €1.408 billion for the Mango MNG Holding SLU Consolidated Group and subsidiary companies, a figure that corresponds to RRP sales excluding VAT for company-owned stores, plus wholesale sales to franchises. This represents an increase in turnover over the previous year of +11%.
