IRELAND. SSP has opened a new-style free flow restaurant at George Best Belfast City Airport. Called the Gallery Restaurant, the new outlet is located landside, and overlooks the runway.
The majority of the food served is freshly produced on site and prepared in front of passengers. It is presented in different sections, making it easy for customers to make their selection, said SSP. Measuring 672sq m, the restaurant seats 200 people, and has been designed to meet the needs of all passengers, from the airport’s regular business travellers to families with young children.
The Gallery offers a wide variety of snack and “˜grab and go’ options – including giant jacket potatoes filled with cheese, tuna mayonnaise, beans or coleslaw; and a selection of deli sandwiches, such as chicken BLT, chicken caesar, and aubergine and houmous, served on rustic bread.
Managing Director of SSP’s UK airports division Simon Turl said: “The Gallery Restaurant is our latest design of free flow restaurant. Freshly produced food and drinks, prepared on site on by our trained staff, and plenty of choice for the customer, means every taste is catered for.”
A salad bar, where customers can create their own dishes to eat in or take-away, serves specialties including tuna nicoise and rustic fruit salad. Also on the menu is a brunch and a traditional Irish breakfast, both of which are served until 11.30am. Finally, there is a selection of muffins, cakes and pastries, freshly baked on the premises, as well as freshly squeezed orange juice and other cold and hot drinks.
George Best Belfast City Airport Managing Director Brian Ambrose commented: “We are delighted that our restaurant facilities have been updated with this new concept from SSP. It will certainly add to the passenger experience.”
