UK. SSP UK Air has opened two new airside outlets for travellers flying out of Liverpool John Lennon Airport: the Day Tripper Bar and Caffè Ritazza.
Caffè Ritazza is a Latin-influenced espresso bar and café serving a range of coffees, hot chocolate, tea, cold drinks and liquor, as well as a selection of hot and cold snacks.
The Day Tripper Bar, which measures 265sq m and can seat 120 people, serves drinks and snacks all day, from the first flight at 4am to the last at 9pm. Guests are able to enjoy impressive views over the runway, and on the menu are over 20 different beers, lagers and cider. It also stocks a selection of spirits, soft drinks and 16 wines and champagnes from around the world – all sold by the glass or the bottle. The bar also serves a range of snacks including several varieties of nuts and crisps.
The bar’s island design features innovative lighting which causes the bar to change colour every 40 seconds, from pink to lilac through blue to green.
SSP Air Managing Director Simon Turl said: “These two new outlets will transform the choice of eating and drinking at Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport. Our aim is to bring high quality catering facilities to airports, which will help make the passenger’s journey a more pleasurable one.”
Peel Airports Group Commercial Director Vic Brodrick added: “We are delighted our partner, SSP Air, has opened Caffè Ritazza and the Day Tripper Bar, enhancing the choice of catering facilities available to our passengers. The contemporary design of each unit is inviting and both offer a range of refreshments to suit all, in a relaxing environment where passengers can sit back and enjoy the excellent views of the runway and beyond before embarking on their journey.”

Caffè Ritazza aims to appeal to ‘the discerning coffee drinker’, its coffee specially blended from Central and South American beans and served by “˜baristas’ – professional coffee-makers with expertise in preparing espresso using the traditional Italian method.
A variety of teas, Belgian hot chocolate, pastries, muffins and cakes are also on offer, plus a range of ciabattas, toasted paninis and mezzalunas freshly prepared on site. A “˜winter warmer’ chocolate coffee and spiced Christmas bun are among the seasonal offerings.
SSP Air provides a range of retail catering services – including restaurants, pubs and bars and coffee shops – at 21 airports throughout the UK and Ireland.
The company’s other retail outlets at Liverpool John Lennon Airport include O’Brien’s Irish Sandwich Bar, Whistlestop, Food Village and Burger King.
