SSP and Lagardère open nine new outlets at Luxembourg Airport

Nine retail and F&B units have been inaugurated at Luxembourg Airport, marking the completion of a major renovation programme.

Including the latest additions, 13 points of sale have opened since the start of the year, operated by Lagardère Travel Retail and SSP.

Lagardère Travel Retail has unveiled a new ‘House of Delights’ area at its Aelia Duty Free Luxembourg concept in the departures area. It features a premium offer of gastronomy, liqueurs and local and international spirits. The shop focuses on “Luxembourgish know-how” and stocks local delicacies such as Namur chocolates, Luxembourg mustard, Tei vum sei teas, Zakka elephant gifts, Villeroy tableware, souvenirs by the artist Jacques Schneider, and a range of sparkling wines, beers and spirits from Luxembourg.

Foie gras, caviar and French delicatessen specialities, as well as cognac, whisky and champagne are also featured.

The retailer has also completed the refurbishment of its Aelia Duty Free Luxembourg shop in the public area. Works were carried out in several stages so that a selection of products could be offered during the refurbishment period.

“This is a new stage in the development of the commercial offer at the airport. Passengers can henceforth avail themselves of a complete range of the finest products of major national and international labels, in totally renovated commercial premises,” said LS Travel Retail France General Manager Michel Pérol.

“We are convinced that this fine commercial tool will contribute to the successful development of Luxembourg Airport and the satisfaction of its passengers.”

SSP has opened a number of concept brands at the airport. These are shop and premium service restaurant Oberweis, Lux Brewery, Moselier, Petit Moselier, Panopolis and a self-service restaurant called ‘Comptoir du bon pays’. The concessionaire also opened the first Starbucks outlet in Luxembourg at the airport in January.

The Oberweis restaurant is located in the public area of the first floor and offers runway views. The namesake shop is located in the departures hall at the east entrance and is open to the public. It offers breads, Viennese and other pastries and fast food as well as a wide range of chocolates and sweets.

The Lux Brewery bar serves snacks and drinks in an elegant and modern setting and is located on Level 1 of the arrivals area. Comptoir du Bon Pays is situated on the first floor and also offers a viewing point over the runway.

The Moselier bar showcases the wine and vineyards of the Moselle valley, while Panopolis – in the centre of the Schengen departures lounge – offers a wide variety of breads. The Petit Moselier bar is located in the non-Schengen departure lounges where there was previously no offer.

A special beer has also been brewed exclusively for the airport. Called Lux-Airport, it is available in the Lux Brewery, Moselier, Petit Moselier and Panopolis bars as well as in the Oberweis restaurant and Le Comptoir du Bon Pays.

SSP France, Benelux General Manager Gérard d’Onofrio commented: “We have positioned our catering offer under the sign of innovation and quality and are particularly proud to contribute to this renovation project alongside Luxembourg Airport, with the shared objective of excellence and experience commensurate with the expectations of passengers.”

Both SSP and Lagardère Travel Retail are offering temporary free parking at all their facilities under certain conditions: Two hours for the Oberweis restaurant and for every purchase worth more than €50 in the Aelia shop in the public area; and 30 minutes for customers in other restaurants in the airport’s public area (Starbucks, Oberweis shop, Lux Brewery and Comptoir du bon pays).

Luxembourg Airport General Manager Johan Vanneste commented: “These new shops give our airport a brand new dimension, with a new range of high quality products, national and international brands, and a modern and dynamic design for shops and restaurants.

“All initial reactions from our customers have been very positive. I am convinced that all these new shops and restaurants will be a big hit, and I wish to extend my warmest thanks to all the teams and all our subcontractors for the quality of the results.”
