SSP pledges “true Guadeloupean experience” after capturing Pôle Caraïbes Airport contract

CARIBBEAN. Leading travel restaurateur SSP has been selected to manage eight food & beverage outlets at Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes Airport. These will be located in renovated space, which will feature a new indoor terrace as well as an outdoor food court.

SSP has developed concepts tailored to Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes Airport, promoting the region’s local flavours and the culture of the archipelago.

Rhumba is a bar offering local rums, original cocktails and aperitifs, with décor that features Caribbean wood elements for a “true Guadeloupean experience”. The Place Créole food court carries a menu of Guadeloupean street food and showcases works from local artists.

For a more formal dining experience, SSP has developed the Bleu Caraïbe restaurant with award-winning chef Jimmy Bibrac (nicknamed ‘The Pride of Guadeloupe’). The menu pays tribute to the island’s culinary heritage through bold flavours and fresh, local ingredients.

Comptoirs de l’île blends traditional French and Creole flavours in its sandwiches and snacks. Other national and international brands such as Carrefour Express and Starbucks will also take their place at the airport.

The full renovation begins this month after SSP began operations at the airport in May. The project is due to be completed in 2023.

SSP France, Belgium and Luxembourg Managing Director Gérard d’Onofrio said: “As the gateway to the Caribbean, with more than two and a half million passengers in 2019 and an ambitious modernisation plan in place, Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes Airport is preparing for an exciting future. We are delighted with this development in Guadeloupe where we will offer local food & beverage concepts, inspired by the culinary heritage of Guadeloupe.”

Alain Bièvre, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Société Aéroportuaire Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes, said: “We are very happy to see SSP Group bring their expertise to Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes airport. The consultation process was carefully prepared and the offers meticulously analysed by our teams in order to select the most exciting, qualitative and competitive proposal. The innovative concepts proposed by SSP will really change the face of the airport and significantly improve the food & beverage offering at Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes.”
