INTERNATIONAL. Starboard Cruise Services and luxury cruise line Crystal have revealed a new “adventurous-luxury” shopping experience onboard the Crystal Endeavor. The ship is the first purpose-built expedition vessel in the Crystal fleet. The first sailing departs from Reykjavík, Iceland on 17 July.
The offer includes a range of limited-time merchandise and destination-related, artisanal collections inspired by the ship’s planned itineraries. On the early voyages, guests can shop from a range of relevant goods that include outerwear accessories for polar climates, cold weather skin care and sun protection technology (polarisation and UV protection).
“The vision for Crystal Endeavor’s retail concept exemplifies adventurous with an element of practicality complemented by a flexible merchandise approach that equips guests to explore exotic, undiscovered destinations with comfort, style and craftsmanship,” said Starboard President & CEO Lisa Bauer. “The fresh approach on retail is perfect for adventure travel while maintaining Crystal’s ultra-luxury standard.”
Selected brands include Alpaca Apparel, made from sustainable fibres and French skincare line Caudalie, which specialises in vinothérapie – products that harness extracts from grapes and grapevines – an extension of Crystal’s new in-suite amenity experience.
It also includes bags from Herschel Supply Co.; rare, ethically sourced, one-of-a-kind diamonds and gemstones from Hubert Jewelry; Lat & Lo, the world’s first jewellery line of inscribed latitude and longitude coordinates plus Swarovski Optik binoculars.
Crystal President Jack Anderson said: “The launch of Crystal’s first vessel designed exclusively for expedition cruising needed the retail programme to be customised for adventurous world travellers. The daring retail programme elicits exploratory shopping and accentuates the unique guest cruise journey. The onboard curated products significantly strengthen the new standard of luxury expedition cruising.”
Crystal Endeavor will offer ten-night voyages around Iceland. The retail programme will evolve “to reflect local treasures and culturally significant items related to other remote and exclusive destinations as the yacht travels around the world,” according to the partners. It will be shaped to reflect Crystal’s ‘Where luxury roams freely’ mantra for expedition cruising, they said.
