The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is Sri Lanka’s leading hospital under the Ministry of Health dedicated to the diagnosis and follow-up treatment of cancer patients.
The NCI offers the diagnostic facilities necessary for the identification of all types of cancer, and specialised care in surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Its vision is to reduce the burden of cancer in Sri Lanka by integrating key national and international health development agendas, and providing free access to high quality resources for cancer prevention, early detection, cancer treatment and care.
Flemingo Duty Free Director PK Thimmayya said: “The marathon, a global initiative with wide international participation, provided an ideal platform to raise awareness, engage with the community and contribute to the greater good. This initiative represents a meaningful step by Flemingo Duty Free in supporting local communities and advancing cancer awareness.”
ICA Sri Lanka’s primary objective is to bring together marathon enthusiasts from across the world to Colombo to run for a cause that will support lives. The high-profile sporting event brought together athletes, corporate leaders and community members in a shared spirit of unity, awareness and social responsibility, the travel retailer noted.

Flemingo Duty Colombo’s contribution was handed over by H.E. Deputy High Commissioner of India Dr. Satyanjal pandey to Dr Randima Nanayakkara, Consultant Oncosurgeon.
The funds will be utilised specifically for the hospital’s Surgical Department, supporting critical patient care services and ongoing medical requirements.

Flemingo’s joint sponsorship and participation in the ICA International Marathon symbolised the company’s commitment to the cause not only through financial support but also through direct involvement and advocacy, the company said.
