ASIA. Lagardère Travel Retail today confirmed the appointment of Terry Chua as Vice President of Duty-Free Merchandising for Asia, a new regional role based in Shanghai.
This appointment aims to strengthen the global organisation and position the company for further growth in the region following its recent debut on Hainan island as a supply and services partner for Hainan Tourism Investment Duty Free Co (HTDF) in Sanya.
Chua was the highly regarded Vice President, Perfume & Cosmetics, Food & General Merchandise at China Duty Free Group from October 2019 until his departure. Before that he was Group Merchandising Director, Perfumes & Cosmetics, Fashion & Luxury at Sunrise Duty Free from January 2013 until October 2019. He had joined Sunrise in November 2011 as Merchandising Director, Perfume and Cosmetics.

Lagardère Travel Retail said that Chua’s objective of building close partnerships with brands and delivering excellence in retail operations will help the company seize opportunities for further growth in the dynamic Asian travel retail markets. It will also aid the company in playing a leading role in the industry’s post-epidemic era “reinvention”.
Lagardère Travel Retail CEO for North Asia Eudes Fabre said: “We are honoured to have someone of Terry’s calibre join our regional leadership team as we embrace opportunities for growth and transformation in partnership with brands, airports and other industry stakeholders.
“This appointment reflects our ambition to further accelerate our growth trajectory in the region. Our team and business partners will greatly benefit from Terry’s wealth of experience and respected position in our sector.”

Chua commented: “I am very pleased to join the Lagardère Travel Retail team in Asia and I look forward to contributing to the next phase of growth in the region.
“Lagardère’s commitment to strong brand partnerships and operational excellence fits well with my personal philosophy.
“Our region is expected to lead the recovery of the global travel retail industry and the evolution of the duty free business model, so exciting times full of opportunities lay ahead.”
