TURKEY/US. The Estée Lauder Companies has established a wholly owned affiliate in Turkey, which began operations on 1 July. The group said the action reflects its belief in both the strength of the market and the strength of its brands – such as Estée Lauder, Clinique, MAC, La Mer, Aramis and Donna Karan fragrances – in Turkey.
The affiliate will operate under the company name of ELCA Kozmetik Ltd Sti in Istanbul. There will be around 300 employees initially, with hopes for new job opportunities in the future.
Ahmet Ramiz has been named General Manager of the affiliate. He was formerly the General Manager of Vepa Velar, which was, prior to the affiliate, the exclusive distributor for The Estée Lauder Companies’ brands in Turkey.
“The Estée Lauder Companies and Vepa Velar have had a sound business partnership for more than 18 years. Their success has played an important role in understanding the Turkish market and we are grateful for their involvement and dedication,” stated Ramiz.
“The decision to open an affiliate in Turkey was within the scope of the company’s global expansion. We are thoroughly excited by the potential of this market which is being fuelled by a vibrant younger generation and growing economic conditions.”
