The Moodie Davitt Report appoints leading Hainan broadcast personality Lara Netherlands to key new role

Award-winning presenter and journalist Lara Netherlands  joins The Moodie Davitt Report team in Hainan

CHINA. The Moodie Davitt Report is delighted to announce the high-profile appointment of Lara Netherlands to the new role of Asia Pacific Content Strategist, based in Haikou, Hainan province.

Lara has been a Presenter and Broadcast Journalist since 2021 at Hainan International Media Center – close partners of The Moodie Davitt Report over recent years. She also served as Hainan Culture Ambassador & Overseas Communication Officer from 2020 to 2023.

A South African national and graduate from Stellenbosch University, Lara has lived in Hainan since 2018. A fluent Chinese, English and Afrikaans speaker, she has won widespread acclaim for her professionalism and rare ability to engage deeply with those she interviews. Lara has won several prestigious awards since moving to China.

Her experience includes being a Reporter at the State Council Information Office in Beijing, covering topics such as the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port and The Third China International Consumer Products Expo.

She has featured in national state-owned media programmes, including Xinhua News Agency’s documentary series, CCTV’s VSCS and CGTN interviews.

Lara is based out of The Moodie Davitt Report’s local offices in Haikou alongside Chief China Representative Zhang Yimei and China Travel Retail Express Editor Dachang Wang. She reports directly to The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie, based in Hong Kong, China.

Lara will help develop The Moodie Davitt Report’s web and film coverage in China and elsewhere in Asia Pacific. She will also work alongside Martin Moodie in producing our quarterly bi-lingual China Travel Retail Report eZine.
