US. Travel retail concessionaire The Paradies Shops today celebrates the grand opening of the first SPANX airport store in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Terminal E.

SPANX is present in more than 40 countries. The new airport location will offer a selection from the brand’s most popular collections of form-fitting shapewear.

The grand opening attendees included SPANX Founder & Owner Sara Blakely and CEO Laura Goldman, as well as The Paradies Shops President & CEO Gregg Paradies, Deputy Aviation Director General Manager Roosevelt Council, and Concessions Director Paul Brown.

As reported, the 500sq ft store comes as part of a seven-year contract secured by the concessionaire in February to operate 12 retail outlets at the airport.

“It’s only fitting that world-class brands set up shop at the world’s busiest airport,” said Council, who leads the airport’s commercial development programme. “SPANX is a home-grown Atlanta success story, and we’re proud to have Sara Blakely as our newest concessions partner.”

SPANX CEO Laurie Ann Goldman commented at the time of the award: “The Spanx business is reaching new heights, and we’re excited about this new way to offer innovative solutions to fans on the go.”

Inspired by her own needs for form-fitting shapewear, Blakely founded SPANX in 2000 with start-up capital of just US$5,000.
