Travel retail industry and associated businesses honour the start of Ramadan : Moodie Davitt Report

INTERNATIONAL. Travel retailers, airlines, airports and associated businesses are honouring the start of Ramadan, the most religiously important time of the year throughout the Muslim world. Here we present some of the images and videos reflecting this key month of spiritual reflection.

Ramadan, which falls on the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar (this year from 11 March until 9 April), marks the month in which the Quran – the holy text of Islam – was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad by the archangel Gabriel in 610 CE.

Ramadan is a month of fasting, prayer and reflection for Muslims, in which they refrain from eating or drinking from sunrise to sunset and avoid thoughts and behaviour considered impure under the tenets of Islam. The Muslim faith believes that the spiritual rewards for this good behaviour are increased during Ramadan.
