Singapore Airlines sets course for Western Sydney Airport with daily flights launching 23 November

The partnership with Singapore Airlines highlights Western Sydney International Airport’s appeal to leading global carriers

SINGAPORE/AUSTRALIA. Singapore Airlines is set to launch daily non-stop flights between Singapore and the new 24-hour Western Sydney International Airport, with services slated to begin 23 November, subject to regulatory approvals.

The announcement is a big boost for the new airport, which is due to begin passenger flights this October.

Western Sydney International Airport will feature a strong and diverse retail and food & beverage line-up, following a series of Requests for Proposals. We will bring you an extensive analysis of that offer in coming weeks.

The route will be operated using the airline’s A350-900 medium-haul aircraft, featuring 303 seats in two cabin classes: 40 in Business Class and 263 in Economy Class.

The inaugural SQ201 service is set to depart Singapore at 11:30 (local time) and arrive at 22:20, while the return service, SQ202, is scheduled to leave Western Sydney International Airport at 23:55 the same day, arriving in Singapore at 05:05 on 24 November.

The new service complements the airline’s existing operations at Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport, where it currently operates four daily flights.

The addition also strengthens the airline’s overall footprint in Australia, where its low-cost subsidiary, Scoot, already serves three destinations.

The strategic partnership between Western Sydney International and the Skytrax-certified 5-Star Singapore carrier was announced in August 2024.

Singapore Airlines Senior Vice President Marketing Planning Dai Haoyu said, “Singapore Airlines’ services to Australia’s newest gateway at Western Sydney will deliver more choice and strengthen connectivity to this popular destination for our customers.

“Western Sydney’s late-night departure capacity will enable a seamless travel journey and connections through Singapore Changi Airport, to more than 130 global destinations served by the SIA Group.”

WSI Chief Executive Officer Simon Hickey added, “Western Sydney International Airport is thrilled to be partnering with Singapore Airlines, bringing more of its Skytrax certified 5-Star service to the people of Greater Sydney.

“Our 24-hour capacity, coupled with Singapore Airlines’ extensive global connectivity, will open our city to the world in new and exciting ways.

“From Sydney to Singapore and beyond, we are pleased to help herald this new era of aviation that will ultimately give Australian travellers more choice and flexibility on when, where, and how they choose to fly.”

The airport is based in Western Sydney, New South Wales’ cultural heartland and part of the Greater Sydney region, which is home to over 3 million residents and Australia’s third-largest economy.

It also serves as a gateway to the natural landscapes of the Blue Mountains and Western New South Wales, as well as the region’s cultural and culinary diversity and a wide range of adventure experiences linked to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

Tickets will be progressively made available for sale via the airline’s distribution channels starting today (25 March).
