Travelex invests in European ATM growth at LeShuttle and Berlin Brandenburg Airport

UK/GERMANY. Foreign exchange company Travelex has announced new investment into in its European ATM estate with the renewal and expansion of its LeShuttle and Berlin Brandenburg Airport ATM operations.

The foreign exchange specialist has unveiled three new ATMs at the Folkestone LeShuttle Terminal building following a three-year contract renewal, extending a partnership with LeShuttle that now spans more than a decade.

The operation serves the near 10 million travellers annually who use LeShuttle between the UK and mainland Europe, providing access to key currencies, including the Euro and Swiss Franc.

In Germany, Travelex has launched three additional ATMs at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, located across the check-in, baggage and non-Schengen areas.

The expansion brings Travelex’s Berlin estate to a total of 12 ATMs and stores.

Customers at Berlin Brandenburg – which serves more than 25 million passengers a year – can access up to 45 currencies through Travelex’s online pre-order service or in-store on the day of travel, alongside ATM withdrawals of up to six different currencies.

Travelex now operates more than 50 ATMs across Germany, including at Frankfurt, Berlin, Munich, Hamburg and Cologne airports, as well as selected hotels.

The developments follow a major refresh of Travelex’s international ATM estate last year, during which the company replaced the hardware and software across its entire portfolio of more than 600 ATMs in eight countries.

The upgraded machines support a range of new features, including contactless cash withdrawals.

Travelex Chief Customer Officer Simon Jackson said, “Our global network of new ATMs offers customers an efficient self-service channel, enabling convenient and smart access to a range of currencies.

“We are proud to extend our partnerships with both LeShuttle and Berlin Brandenburg Airport. Both serve as important gateways to Europe for our customers.”

Christopher Loeser at Berlin Brandenburg Airport said: “We’re delighted to be building on our strong relationship with Travelex with the expansion of their ATM estate. As Germany’s Capital airport, offering a seamless passenger experience is especially important to us.

“Working with Travelex means we can offer our visitors quick and convenient access to the travel money in a way that suits them.”
