ITALY. Venice’s new Ferrari Store officially opened earlier this month – the brand’s ninth official outlet in Italy as well as the 12th worldwide. It was officially inaugurated by Scuderia Ferrari’s drivers, Michael Schumacher and Felipe Massa.
The Venice Ferrari Store joins the growing list of exclusive Ferrari Stores in Maranello (the car company’s Italian headquarters), Rome, Milan, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Las Vegas. In travel retail, there are Ferrari Shops at Bologna, Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino airports.
An ambitious development plan will see more than 40 openings across Europe, America and Asia over the next five years.
The 170sq m Venice store, located just off San Marco’s Square, offers a wide range of Ferrari products, most of which are exclusive to Ferrari Stores.
Its five main categories – Fans, Luxury, Vintage, Children’s and Publishing – are home to over 1,500 products, ranging from men’s, women’s and children’s clothing to leathergoods, memorabilia, publications, toys and gadgets.
“The display space has been specially designed to fit into the unique city of Venice too,” Ferrari said. “Cutting-edge techniques and materials have been used to prevent flood damage and to ensure that that the magical imagines of both this floating city and Ferrari blend perfectly.”
As in other Ferrari stores, an F1 car takes pride of place in the window. This particular car is the F2002 which, watched by hundreds of thrilled enthusiasts, was ferried down the Grand Canal from the Tronchetto to San Marco’s Square last June.
Visitors to the shop are greeted by the rumble of the single-seater’s powerful engine as they walk through the doors, offering the all-important retail entertainment experience.
Contemporaneous to the opening of the store, two historic vehicles – a 1957 Ferrari 250 GT Tour de France and a 1953 Ferrari 500 Mondial Sport – will also be displayed near the “colonne del Todaro” and “del Leone” in San Marco’s Square.
