Viennese café and pastry brand Aïda celebrates 110th anniversary

Bridging generations with baked specialties, Aïda turns 110 years old

AUSTRIA. Viennese family-run café and pastry store brand Aïda is marking its 110th year with special offers and prizes.

Several customers will win its ‘Aïda Golden Tickets’ through a raffle with prizes including annual consumption of Aïda products, a birthday cake every year for life, multiple vouchers worth €110, and much more. The anniversary celebrations also feature other activities, attractions and events.

Founded in 1913 by Josef Prousek and his wife Rosa, the company claims to be the largest family-owned confectionery producer and coffee shop brand in Europe, with over 100 pastry chefs producing three tonnes of cakes, snacks and pastries daily, alongside 30 types of ice cream.

Passengers at Vienna Airport encounter the café’s best-selling pastries and cakes

The company now operates more than 30 cafés in Vienna and plans to introduce its coffee and pastry expertise in new locations.

As reported, its travel retail store debuted at Vienna Airport in April 2019 in partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail. In December 2019, the partnership extended to the main train station in Graz.

The 110-year-old café and pastry shop has become a integral part of Vienna’s cityscape

Fourth-generation owner Dominik Prousek commented: “It makes my family and me proud to still be an all-around known and, above all, popular part of Vienna after 110 years.

“This year’s anniversary is also the end of a demanding time for all of us during the COVID-19 pandemic. This gives us even more reason to finally be able to celebrate together again and enjoy beautiful things.” ✈
