Walsh Whiskey founders, Bernard and Rosemary Walsh, have partnered with The Jack & Jill Foundation to raise €16,000 to fund 1,000 hours of nursing care hours for seriously ill children under five years old.
The Jack & Jill Foundation, based in Ireland, helps provide specialised care for young children with medical conditions and severe learning difficulties.
Walsh Whiskey — known for its Writers’ Tears & The Irishman brands — will be supporting the organisation through various fundraising initiatives throughout 2020. The first event is a Facebook livestream raffle of the founders’ personal collection of a complete set of Writers’ Tears Vintage Cask Strength, super-premium, triple-distilled whiskeys.
According to the company, the ten-bottle collection is worth approximately €1,500 to €2,000 at auction. It features every vintage bottle released from 2011 to 2019, including the soon to be released 2020 vintage. Each bottle comes in a stylish case and has been personally signed by Bernard and Rosemary Walsh. The set also includes letters of thanks from the Walsh’s and Jack & Jill Foundation CEO Carmel Doyle.
Participants can join the raffle at €16 a ticket with the winner to be announced on 9 July. Each ticket will buy the equivalent of one hour of special nursing care for a child supported by The Jack & Jill Foundation. Tickets can be purchased here.
Walsh Whiskey is also encouraging customers to make direct donations to the organisation; noting how the COVID-19 pandemic has increased financial pressures for charities such as The Jack & Jill Foundation. Details of upcoming fundraising initiatives will be released on walshwhiskey.com and on the company’s social media channels.
