JAPAN. De Beers LV, the joint venture between the diamonds giant and LVMH Group, has confirmed a plan to open a boutique in Tokyo this September. The company will also open a store in New York in the second half-year of 2004.
The news seems to contradict a statement from LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault at the beginning of May, that underlined the need to postpone or cancel the programme, due to tough conditions in the jewellery market. The first De Beers luxury jewellery boutique opened in London earlier this year.
