USA. Westfield has launched a tender for 29 commercial units as it redevelops Newark Liberty International Terminal B.
The comprehensive competitive process (CEP) covers more than 33,000sq ft of space and offers opportunities in seven categories: ATMs, currency exchange, duty free, food & beverage, health & wellness, specialty retail and travel essentials (news & gifts).
“This will be a significant redevelopment of Terminal B and the beginning of an enhanced traveller experience,” said Westfield Vice President of Leasing Iris Messina. “We’re looking for unique brands and motivated partners who are excited about working with us to reimagine Terminal B and highlight the amazing sights, sounds and flavours of New Jersey.”
The design of the terminal will draw design inspiration from well known locations like the Boardwalk and Ironbound.
Westfield said that the Boardwalk area will “offer the warm colours and rich patterns that bring the Jersey Shore to life. Lined with homey, boutique shops, the Boardwalk has a relaxed feel with expansive views”.
The terminal will also capture the urban look and feel of North Jersey in Ironbound, with design elements inspired by metal and brick as well as street art.
The Garden State will offer fresh, artisanal foods and scenic views, added Westfield.
Westfield said it was creating “next-generation environments” at US airports.
“Integrating the best in food, fashion, art, and entertainment, Westfield crafts a customisable journey that aligns with and reflects each community’s unique style, spirit and culture”.
Westfield is planning to host an outreach and tour of Terminal B on 13 December.
Proposals for the business are due on 31 January 2017.
