CHINA. Zhuhai Duty Free Group today (29 December) officially opened its Wanzai Port departure duty free shop, marking a key extension of the travel retailer’s store network.
Located in the departures zone at the Zhuhai Wanzai ferry port, the shop supplements Zhuhai Duty Free outlets at major entry and exit channels in Zhuhai, including at Gongbei, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, plus Hengqin and Qingmao ports.

The passenger ferry terminal in Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai City, is a key transportation hub between Zhuhai and Macau, and is around a five-minute ferry ride from the Macau Inner Harbour Ferry Terminal. The shop mainly sells liquor & tobacco, with an emphasis on what the company termed the ‘short stay, quick decision’ customs clearance scenario to improve shopping efficiency.
Wanzai Port has seen a sharp increase in passenger traffic in recent years. The number of inbound and outbound passengers this year exceeded one million by 25 August, representing a year-on-year increase of +17.7%. This was also the earliest date that the million passenger milestone was reached in any year since the port was established.

A Zhuhai Duty Free spokesperson said, “The daily passenger flow at the port exhibits a clear tidal pattern, and the opening of duty-free shops will precisely match the travel and consumption needs of passengers at different times.
The store will leverage the port’s “efficient customs clearance advantages and optimise service processes”, added a statement.
Zhuhai Duty Free Group completed a major asset restructuring in 2024 and became part of Zhuhai Huafa Group Co earlier in 2025. Since then, it has continued accelerating its corporate transition in line with a plan to build “a large-scale consumer ecosystem centred on duty-free business”.
Zhuhai Duty Free Group has also recently expanded its duty-free store network from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to other domestic aviation and port hubs. Duty-free shops have opened at Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport, Guangzhou Nansha Port Passenger Terminal, Yichang Three Gorges International Airport and Qingmao Port.
Since the beginning of this year, Zhuhai Duty Free Group said it has improved its supply and services based on passenger flow and purchasing preferences at each port.
Among the key product categories, Zhuhai Duty Free Group noted it had consolidated its strengths in liquor & tobacco while expanding into others such as cosmetics and skincare, speciality foods, fine watches and trend-led domestic brands. It has also collaborated with brands to create exclusive and first-release packaging.
The retailer has also adapted its shopping environments and experiences to traveller needs. The Wanzai Port departure duty-free shop adopts a counter sales model, which is suitable for the ‘short time and high convenience’ rhythm of the waterway port. The Gongbei Port inbound duty-free shop features a themed photo area and a selection of goods aimed at creating interactive experiences and enhancing the store’s attractiveness.
Zhuhai Duty Free Group is also promoting digital integration and offline convenience measures. Its online engagement relies on the Zhuhai Duty Free Mall WeChat mini-program. In its physical stores it now offers enhanced convenience and services such as luggage and goods storage. 🛳️
