BAA unveils master plan for Boston

US. BAA USA has added a striking new dimension to the shopping opportunity at Boston Logan International airport.

The “Airmall” facility encompasses 37,707sq ft (3,504sq m) in the landside and airside retail halls.

“Travellers are about to experience the airport in a new way,” said BAA USA regional director Mark Knight. “Our programme emphasizes the basics: serving our customers by giving them more of what they expect to find in a world-class airport -recognized brands, local flavour, more choices and value for the money. The Airmall delivers on all fronts.”

The new offer has increased the number of retail and catering locations by about +44%.

“We have been successful in attracting an inviting mix of local to international retailers to Terminal E,” added BAA Boston vice-president Mike Caro. “And with Massport’s street pricing policy reinforced by our “˜no rip-off’ guarantee, consumers are ensured that they will pay no more for goods and services in the terminal than they would expect to pay in Boston shopping malls. It’s a winning combination.”

The Massachusetts Port Authority awarded BAA the contract to develop and manage the retail and food and beverage programmes in terminals B, D and E as part of its modernisation program. BAA and the concessionaires are investing upward of US$25 million in the development.
