HF Phénix wins Paris tender with HDS and set to open stores in Paris and Nice airports – 22/02/05

FRANCE. Fashion and accessories retail specialist HF Phénix is poised to open its new fashion store in Nice Airport next month. And in further positive news it has been awarded the fashion contract at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) terminal one, in partnership with Hachette Distribution Services (HDS).

Phénix holds 75% of the shares in the HDS joint venture, which trades as PAP.

But President Gilles Hervier told The Moodie Report that the two-store CDG contract will not be able to open until at least October 2006 because of airport development work. “We don’t know exactly when the date will be,” he said.

The delayed CDG opening will feature a 208sq m landside store and a 300sq m airside outlet, including a 30sq m Hermès boutique.

In the interim PAP will open a 65sq m boutique in T1 this October. Offering men’s and women’s fashion, ready-to-wear, leathergoods and accessories, the offer mirrors that of a 200sq m area opened last April.

The new contract consolidates Phénix’s fashion dominance in Paris CDG. As reported, last year the partnership with HDS also won another concession for eight fashion stores formerly operated by The Nuance Group. That contract covers five shops in terminal F2 and three in F1.

The Nice shop should open by late March or early April. “It will be a multi-brand shop, covering Schengen and international passengers,” Hervier said. It will be operated solely by Phénix.
