SOUTH KOREA. On 16 October, Scental Luxury Products Travel Retail Asia Pacific (L’Oréal) – in partnership with The Shilla Group – opened two new Kiehl’s travel retail boutiques in Korea: one in downtown Seoul at Shilla Hotel; and one at Incheon International Airport, in the concourse terminal.
Shilla Hotel, a member of the leading Hotels of the World, houses more than 500 boutiques carrying high-end luxury brands that provide shoppers with a choice of either imported or local specialties.

The Kiehl’s boutique covers 25.6sq m, and features all the iconic elements of the original flagship store on 3rd Avenue, New York, such as the “Mr. Bones” skeleton, antique stunt planes and motorbikes, collections of vintage photographs and the Kiehl’s baby stand.
Every detail has been meticulously placed to make everyone who comes into the boutique feel that they have been transported directly back to the original Kiehl’s Apothecary, according to the brand.
The new boutique at Incheon International Airport brings the total of Kiehl’s outlets at the facility to three (there are already two Kiehl’s stores in the main terminal).
The latest door takes the form of a 19sq m boutique at the entrance of the Shilla Shop in the concourse terminal.
Initial sales figures have been described as “breathtaking”. “Both Scental and The Shilla Group are confident that these two new boutiques will accomplish outstanding results and become a huge success story,” noted the L’Oréal group in a statement.
Kiehl’s was founded as an old-world apothecary in New York’s East Village neighbourhood over 150 years ago. The brand offers high quality skin, hair and body care products that are a blend of the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, herbal and medicinal.
Kiehl’s contributes both products and profits to non-profit organisations in fields such as AIDS research, Cancer research, Environmental conservation, Arts, Sport, and Community outreach programmes.
