NORTH AMERICA. Haleybrooke International has reached an agreement with Cooley Distillery, Ireland’s only independent whiskey distillery, to represent four of its award-winning Irish whiskey brands in the North American travel retail channel.
Commenting on the agreement, Haleybrooke International President Patrick Nilson stated: “Cooley Distillery had a tremendously successful year. We are very excited about the opportunity to represent a company who won a record 10 gold medals at the 2009 International Wine & Spirits Competition and was honoured as European Distiller of the Year as a result.
“Their brands have been very successful in travel retail in Europe and we look to accomplish the same for them in North America.”
Cooley Distillery Sales and Marketing Director Jack Teeling said: “North America is the largest market for Irish whiskey. Irish whiskey has experienced double-digit growth over the past five years and is up over +230% over the past 10 years.
“Our portfolio of Irish whiskeys has performed very well in European travel retail and we are delighted to be able to work with a company of Haleybrooke International calibre in expanding the offerings of Irish whiskey in the North American travel retail channel.”
Aiming to revive many of the historical brands and distilling techniques of Irish whiskey, Cooley has developed a portfolio of award-winning whiskeys.

Kilbeggan Finest Irish Whiskey comes from the oldest whiskey distillery in the world with over 250 years of whiskey heritage. The finest grain and malt whiskeys are blended together for the smooth, sweet taste and malty finish.
Tyrconnell Single Malt Irish Whiskey is a historic Irish whiskey brand from the 1900s, named after a famous racehorse that won a legendary race at odds of 100 to 1. Tyrconnell’s fresh fruity bouquet, smooth sweet taste and delicate dry finish make it a classic Irish malt with its own distinctive character.
Connemara Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey is said to revive one of the most ancient distilling traditions in Ireland, drying malting barley over peat fires. As the smoke rises through the malting barley it imparts a peaty/smoky flavour.
Greenore Single Grain Irish Whiskey is the only expression of Irish single grain whiskey and one of only a handful of such bottlings in the world. Greenore is made from maize/corn, giving it a smooth sweet taste that is described as versatile and accessible to all taste buds.
