Silhouette’s lightweight SUN Titan Minimal Art model celebrates its 10th anniversary this year |
AUSTRIA. Back to nature is one of the big trends this year for Austrian eyewear supplier Silhouette’s sunglasses collection.
The SUN Collection’s rimless sunglasses are designed to integrate themselves into the wearer’s look with natural harmony, the company said.
Green, described as the colour hit of the year, is used in a deeper, darker variation – in lenses as well as in temples – and softened in a new shade called earth. The accompanying colours are soft apricot, classic brown, and intense blue-grey.
The rimless shades offer different looks, from glamorous and classic to romantic and poetic, all depending on the wearer’s individual style. Individuality is a top priority in the collection, it said.
The SUN Dreamwings model has soft ornamental elements. The light, airy design aims to radiate young, feminine elegance, in fashionable colours of grey, earth, and apricot.
SUN Titan Minimal Art, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, is available with five different lens forms and eight colour variations.
SUN Mystero plays with light and shade, according to the company. Matt ornamentation accents the gleaming temples and emphasises the soft aesthetics and rimless design.
The SUN Dimension model has soft temples and wraparound design with polarised lenses, while the SUN Softtouch has a classic look and soft feel, and is said to be popular among both women and men.

Intelligent protection from the sun
Silhouette has exclusively developed an “efficient and intelligent answer” to the sun’s hazardous rays called IQ POL. The polarised protective lenses, used in 10 of the 18 models in the 2010 SUN Collection, have been developed to eliminate disruptive reflections, which can be strenuous on the eyes.
Sunglasses with IQ POL lenses make the eyes tire less quickly and enable them to relax even in heavy glare, all without compromising intense sensitivity to colour and contrast, the supplier said.
Silhouette sunglasses also incorporate a blue light filter absorbing up to 97% of blue light, which is damaging to the eyes.
100% protection from UV light with wavelengths of up to 400 nanometres is available for all 2010 SUN Collection models, which are available with the lens colours of green, grey, brown, earth and apricot.
Water drops bounce off the water-repellent coating of the sunglasses, and disruptive glares are stopped by the five-layer anti-reflection coating on the interior side of the lenses.
