PORTUGAL. ARI-owned Portugal Duty Free has unveiled a significantly expanded and redesigned Porto Duty Free store at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, marking the completion of a nationwide refurbishment programme across its ANA/VINCI Airports estate.
The new store, now double its previous size and set across two floors, introduces a more immersive retail environment with a sharpened focus on sense of place and an upgraded category mix.

Northern Portugal sits at the heart of the concept, expressed through an extensive regional product assortment and experiential elements.
A standout feature is the Port wine proposition, with more than 230 varieties spanning over 25 brands, showcased within a dedicated Port Cellar designed to highlight the region’s heritage.
The local offer extends to signature Portuguese products, including ovos moles from Aveiro, preserves, Arcádia chocolates and fresh pastéis de nata, alongside brands such as Claus Porto.

The beauty category has been materially strengthened with the introduction of brands including Jo Malone, Tom Ford, Sol de Janeiro and Kérastase, broadening the premium appeal.
Digital integration is a core component of the redesign, led by a 30-metre LED façade aimed at immersing passengers in the region’s landscapes, alongside self-service checkouts, mobile-enabled services and Click & Collect.
Portugal Duty Free CEO Alain Brun said, “The renovation of our store at Porto Airport is a moment of great pride for all of us.
“We have managed to create spaces that not only elevate the travel retail experience but also celebrate what makes Portugal unique.

“At Porto Duty Free, we have strengthened our connection to the Northern region, highlighting the authenticity of its products and traditions.
“This project reflects the dedication of our teams and our ongoing commitment to offering passengers a memorable experience, where Portuguese identity is present in every detail.”
ARI CEO Ray Hernan added, “The unveiling of the newly refurbished Porto Duty Free store marks an important milestone in our partnership with ANA/VINCI Airports.
“This beautifully redesigned space reflects our ambition to deliver best-in-class retail experiences, combining a strong sense of place with a compelling global brand offer.

“It also demonstrates what can be achieved through close collaboration and a shared commitment to continually enhancing the passenger journey.”
ANA/VINCI Airports Chief Commercial Officer Karen Strougo commented, “The opening of the new Portugal Duty Free store at Porto Airport reflects the ambition we share with ARI: to create shopping experiences that are more intuitive, inspiring and deeply connected to the region.
“This refurbishment marks another step in the consolidation of a strategic partnership that puts the passenger at the heart of everything we do and elevates travel retail in Portugal to a new level.
“It is also a reflection of the continuous work of the teams who, every day, transform our airports into benchmark spaces in travel retail.”
