Patricia Field Collection for MCM

For the first time in Hong Kong, award-winning New York stylist Patricia Field unveiled her collection for MCM. As one of the greatest fashion visionary icons, Field’s work includes Sex and the City, Ugly Betty, The Devil Wears Prada, and many more. She has teamed up with MCM in creating a fashion-forward capsule collection, ranging from handbags to backpacks of various style and shape in five timeless and lightweight designs.

Ranging from handbags to backpacks and smaller accessories, the items are available in multiple colours such as army green, Cognac and black. Constructed on canvas materials with leather and intricate hardware detailing, the MCM’s iconic Cognac Visetos logo serves as a subtle backdrop for the freehand sketch of a sultry woman’s face.

Drawn by New York artist Martine, who is closely associated with Patricia Field’s The House of Field styling empire, the illustration was taken from an original artwork which was being displayed at Field’s 8th Street boutique in New York as Field was finding inspirations from the works of art she owns as well as historical pieces she has viewed. As a result, Field aims to seamlessly combine the features that are indigenous to herself and MCM in her creations.

Speaking about her collection for MCM, Field said: “I want to keep the identity of the bag [MCM], so I used classic shapes but changed the fabrics and colours. My vision was very clear from the start – being a fan of MCM, it was easy for me. Easy is always good. When it gets complicated, that’s when the trouble starts”¦ with everything, you learn what works, take it, and run.”
