UK national captures US$2 million prize in Dubai Duty Free draw

The Double Millionaire Draw was conducted by Dubai Duty Free Executive Vice Chairman Colm McLoughlin, Senior Vice President Corporate Communications Salah Tahlak and Vice President Marketing Sinead El Sibai


UAE. A UK national has become the fifth winner of Dubai Duty Free’s Double Millionaire Promotion, winning US$2 million after a draw this week at Dubai International Airport.

Darren Booth, a Dubai-based British national won Series 5 of the draw with ticket number 1937.

Following that draw, a presentation was also made this week to two previous Millennium Millionaire winners.

The first was to Giuseppe (Joe) Depetro, an Australian national from Melbourne who received his Dollar millionaire cheque, which he won in Series 120 drawn some weeks ago. Back in 2005 he won his first million dollars in Series 45.

Depetro said: “It was a pleasant shock to receive a second “˜once-in-a-life-time’ phone call from Dubai Duty Free. Needless to say how thrilled I am to win the prize once again and especially happy to see the same Dubai Duty Free team who presented my first cheque back in 2005.”

Giuseppe Depetro is only the second person in the history of the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire promotion to become a double winner. The first was Mark Khoury, a Canadian national based in Dubai who won his first million in Series 37 in 2004 and his second in Series 99 in 2009.

Another winner was presented with a Dollar millionaire cheque this week, when Mahamood Padanilam Parampil, a Dubai-based Indian national came with his daughter Shajitamol Javiz to accept his ceremonial cheque for US$1 million, which he won in Series 119 in the Millennium Millionaire Promotion.

Dubai Duty Free also conducted its Finest Surprise draw after the Millennium Millionaire presentation.

Mohamad Bikai, a Lebanese businessman from Abu Dhabi won a high-speed Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe (Basalt Black) with in Series 1466. Bikai said: “It is great to have finally won in Dubai Duty Free’s promotion after so many years of trying and I’m especially delighted that my prize is really worth the wait. A Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe is an amazing car. I had a gut feeling that I would win but this is still an extremely nice surprise.”

Qatari national Yousef Hamad Saad won a Mercedes Benz S500 (Diamond White), which he won in Series 1467.

And Marie O’Neill received the keys for her new Ducati Superbike 1198 won in Series 183. Ms O’Neill, an Irish national who works for Executive Expatriate Relocations in Dubai, said: “It is wonderful to win with Dubai Duty Free and I am happy to be here today and share the joy of winning with other winners. I’m so grateful to Dubai Duty Free for coming up with such exciting promotions and hope one day will make it the second time lucky.”

The Double Millionaire and Finest Surprise draws were conducted by Dubai Duty Free officials headed by: Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman, Salah Tahlak, Senior Vice President – Corporate Communications, Sinead El Sibai, Vice President – Marketing and Bernard Creed, Vice President – Finance.
